This treatment allows embryos to be preserved and transferred in a subsequent cycle.
Embryo vitrification normally occurs after a cycle of in vitro fertilization, where the embryo with the highest pregnancy potential was transferred and additional good quality embryos were obtained. In these cases, the potential embryos can be vitrified to preserve their development capacity so they can be transferred in a later cycle.
There are other cases in which patients opt for embryo vitrification, such as when pregnancy is not achieved, and they want to increase their chances for that same IVF cycle.
It avoids having to go through the ovarian stimulation process again, you will not have to take as many drugs (only to prepare the uterus for implantation), it will cost less and your odds of having multiple pregnancies will be lowered.
Not at all. Vitrification does not alter the quality of cryopreserved embryos. This technique has exponentially improved the number of viable embryos, which allows for very high pregnancy rates.
Embryos can be vitrified indefinitely, but being able to use them depends on the age of the mother. Logically, at Reproclinic we would not allow a 60-year-old woman to be a mother at such an advanced age.
