Learn about the main treatments

Intrauterine Insemination (Artificial Insemination) is the most natural method. It entails inseminating the woman when she is ovulating by using the semen of her partner or a donor, if she does not have a partner. Previously, the woman will have been stimulated to increase the number of mature eggs and the best male sperm will have been selected.

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is the technique by which the woman’s eggs are inseminated in the laboratory to produce several embryos. They are observed and analyzed for a few days to choose the best one, which is then transferred into the woman. The other embryos can be vitrified for future use.

When IVF is performed with eggs from a donor this is called egg donation or IVF with donor eggs. Similarly, this process can be carried out with the semen of the partner or a donor.

The reciprocal IVF method is intended for lesbian couples. The two are involved: one donates the eggs and the other carries the pregnancy.

Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) is the technique by which the embryo is analyzed to detect possible abnormalities

Vitrification is a fertility preservation technique in which both men and women can freeze their biological clocks and decide when to be a mother or father. In the case of women, through the vitrification of their eggs, and in men, by freezing their semen.
