Motherhood after IVF with donor eggs

Being able to be a mother with eggs from a young woman reduces the percentage of embryos with chromosomal abnormalities and increases your chances of having a healthy child.

More than 50% of assisted reproduction cycles performed in Spain are IVF cycles with donated eggs. We are specialists in egg donation.

Egg donation is a safe and efficient technique that maximizes the likelihood of pregnancy.

The probability of conception is the same as that of a mother under 35 years of age.

Maternity with donor eggs

The delaying of motherhood is a widespread phenomenon in the society in which we live, whether due to the difficulty of balancing work and personal life, the woman’s desire to pursue a personal/professional project rather than a family one, or having a new partner and wanting to form a new family.

There is a significant number of women between the ages of 38 and 40 who want to have children. However, as women age their biological clocks work against them, as the quality of their eggs drastically decreases. At this age the chances of pregnancy are less than 5% per cycle. In addition, if we perform a genetic study of the embryos that are produced, we see that the percentage of embryos with chromosomal abnormalities is around 85% in the 39 to 42 age range, as this increases exponentially with the woman’s age. A chromosomally altered embryo will not lead to pregnancy and, if it does, can lead to a miscarriage or a child with a chromosomal syndrome.

Thus, the preferred assisted reproduction technique among women over 40 is in vitro fertilization with ovules from a young donor. In this way, the chances of pregnancy are the same as that of a young woman’s.

Egg donation is a simple technique that offers very good chances for pregnancy.

It basically consists of carrying out two parallel treatments: one for the donor and one for the recipient. First, an egg donor undergoes an ovarian stimulation treatment to retieve eggs, and second, the recipient undergoes an endometrial preparation treatment to be able to receive the embryos. In vitro fertilization with egg donation is the most effective technique among assisted reproduction treatments. The chances of having a child are the same as those of a mother under age 35, regardless of the age of the mother who undergoes the process. The pregnancy rate per transfer is 66.8%, and the live child at home rate per transfer is 56.8%.

Maternity with donor eggs

Today Spain ranks third in number of reproductive treatments performed, and first in egg donation: 40% of egg donation treatments in Europe are carried out in Spain. Why? Basically, due to four factors:

  • The donation of eggs is anonymous, and it is the doctor who is responsible for assigning the donor, with the recipient seeking maximum phenotypic and immunological similarity. Many couples do not want to have any contact with the egg donor, and want to be the ones who decide how and when.

  • We have the best technology and the best professionals, allowing us to obtain the highest pregnancy rates in Europe.

  • Maximum biological safety. Our donors undergo a strict screening process that goes far above and beyond what is required under Spanish law. To reduce risks to a minimum, we genetically analyze our donors using the most complete genetic tests on the market, screening for more than 500 genetic diseases. In addition, this genetic study, if also performed on the male, allows us to assign an egg donor who does not share the same alteration, thereby boosting the odds of a safe treatment and the birth of a healthy child.

  • Affordable prices. Egg donation in Spain is altruistic. Unlike other countries, such as the USA, in Spain donors cannot be remunerated beyond financial compensation covering the multiple visits to the clinic during ovarian stimulation treatment. This makes egg donation prices much lower than in other countries.

We have three in vitro Fertilization programs featuring remote egg donation:

Fertty4ED (Fertty for Egg donation)

Your physician will begin, together with Reproclinic, the preparation of the endometrium. Reproclinic in Barcelona will be responsible for selecting the donor, their ovarian stimulation, and retrieved the eggs. Once the endometrium is started, you will travel to Barcelona to be able to deliver the semen sample on the same day the donor’s eggs are retrieved and you will be able to enjoy Barcelona for about five days, at which time the embryos will be transferred. You can head back home the next morning. The total stay in Barcelona, in this case, is approximately seven days.

Fertty4T (Fertty for Transfer)

Your physician will begin, together with Reproclinic, the preparation of the endometrium and the collection and cryopreservation of the semen. The semen sample will be sent to Reproclinic. Reproclinic in Barcelona will be responsible for selecting the donor, the ovarian stimulation, and obtaining the eggs. Once the endometrium is ready to receive the embryos, you can travel to Barcelona to have them implanted (the woman alone, or the couple). The next morning you can travel back to your country. The total stay in Barcelona, in this case, is approximately three days.

Fertty4DED (Fertty for distance egg donation)

Your physician will initiate, together with Reproclinic, the preparation of the endometrium and the collection and cryopreservation of the semen. The semen sample will be sent to Reproclinic. Reproclinic in Barcelona will be responsible for selecting the donor, the ovarian stimulation, and retrieving the eggs. Once the semen is received, Reproclinic proceeds with creating the in vitro embryos, selecting the most viable and vitrifying them. Once vitrified, Reproclinic sends them to your sterility center, which will proceed with the implantation of the embryos. Thanks to this program, you won’t have to leave your country.
